FIFA is planning to punish Thierry Henry for “La main de Voltaire” that sent France through to South Africa leaving Ireland to wallow in tears.
That sound was the FIFA bus running over Henry’s hands.
Even if dismissed, the idea these guys thought about this makes them a bunch of gutless little weasels. How else to put it? They’re going to go after the player? Instead of showing true leadership they would take accountability and accept the failure of one of their refs.
The other thing they should do is have meaningful discussions to improve the officiating. Two refs and four linesmen sounds good but having replay and the smart ball is equally important.
Why not?
There’s no reason to not do any of this.
Once done, we can all be spared of France-Ireland type debacles and the sad spectacle they have in store for Henry.
